Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): A children’s book on Nagaland titled ‘The Hornbill Warrior‘ in the Lotha and the Ao dialects was released by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, author and Member of Parliament, and Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, IAS retired and author, on May 16 at Kamladevi auditorium, India International Centre, New Delhi.
An update from the INTACH Nagaland chapter stated that ‘The Hornbill Warrior’ is a story-cum-colouring book that brings out the heritage and culture of Nagaland as discovered through the eyes of a young girl from Nagaland.
It added that INTACH’s Heritage Education and Communication (HECS) division with the support of the INTACH Nagaland chapter is undertaking the translation of the book into five Naga languages to increase its reach as well as to promote the preservation of endangered languages.
Meanwhile, the INTACH Nagaland chapter has thanked its convener, Sentila T Yanger, and the team of translators namely Mefutiba, retired principal of Higher Education and co-convener of INTACH Nagaland chapter, and Lily Kikon for their efforts and support.
It expressed hope that the students would enjoy the book in their local languages.
