A small contribution can make a big difference — Gov. Ganesan

DIMAPUR — Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, asserted on Saturday that a small contribution from anyone can make a substantial difference in someone’s life.

Addressing the third edition of Children’s Home Sports Day at Holy Cross Higher Sec. School, Dimapur, the governor said that the young children represent the indomitable spirit of the youth, echoing the importance of teamwork and unity.

Ganesan said the annual meet is a splendid platform that brings together children from various backgrounds, nurturing in them the principles of mutual respect, understanding and collective endeavour.

On the occasion, the governor presented gifts to the children and also interacted with them.

The meet was jointly organised by Dimapur district administration and Team Better Dimapur, in collaboration with other organisations, on the theme ‘Because we care’.

More than 150 children from various children’s homes, including Ebenezer, Mission Possible, Rin Taniemi Neighbourhood Children Home, Prodigal Home, Bethany Manna Centre, Love Care Home, and El Sahddai, participated in the event.

Deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Tinojongshi Chang, who also attended the event, lauded the organisers and all the contributors and assured the district administration’s support in the coming days.

President of Team Better Dimapur, Mhonjan Humtsoe, shared that they first started the event in 2015 and 2016, but due to the COVID-19 lockdown, they could not continue with sports day for some years.

He also informed that there are 22 children’s homes in Dimapur, so they organised the event with an objective of letting them gather, have fun together and also make new friends.

Humtsoe said that they were able to host the third edition due to the contributions of many individuals and organisations, both in cash and in kind.

A free medical check-up was also provided to all the children on the occasion and it featured sports and games including tug of war, penalty shootout, sack race, running race, obstacle race among others.
