Abu Metha discusses collaboration with US consul general
DIMAPUR — Abu Metha, advisor to the chief minister and chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of India (IDAN), met with US consul general Melinda Pavek in Kolkata, accompanied by Theja Meru, chairman of the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA), on Monday.
According to a press release, Elizabeth Lee, director of the American Centre, was also present at the meeting.
Metha expressed on the occasion the chief minister’s appreciation for their participation in Nagaland government-organised programmes, particularly the Hornbill Festival.
The discussions focused on the potential for collaboration, fostering people-to-people contacts, and strengthening bilateral ties between India and the United States. They also discussed various partnership plans and strategies in areas such as culture, music, arts, investment opportunities, education, and youth activities.
Metha emphasised the state government’s keen interest in welcoming US officials to the upcoming Hornbill Festival and expressed optimism about positive partnerships in the months and years ahead, aiming to bring the people of both countries closer for mutual benefits.
Meru highlighted the state government’s initiatives in the field of music and creative arts while expanding on the various collaborations undertaken by TAFMA.
It is worth noting that Melinda Pavek had previously been a special guest at the Hornbill Festival. Also, both Metha and Meru are alumni of the US State department’s International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).
