Dimapur, March 27 (EMN): As Nagaland has imposed a
lockdown along with the rest of India to break the transmission chain of the
novel coronavirus (Covid-19), many organisations and individuals have come
forward to help the government, both in cash and kind, in the fight against the
virus.
One such organisation is Act of Kindness (AoK), a Dimapur-based NGO, which has distributed protective face masks, water and food to the most vulnerable groups such as healthcare workers and security personnel.
Describing it as a small gift of love and appreciation, the AoK members on Friday gave away protective kits and food to those working in the frontline at five different check gates namely Dilai, Bor Lengri, Old Khatkhati, Sangtamtila and New Field.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the president and founder of AoK, Lenti Aier, said that they were happy to be able to help in their small ways.
Aier said that their simple act of kindness was a symbol of love and respect for all those working in the frontline, toiling day and night to ensure a safe and secure Nagaland despite the great risk involved.
‘We did this because as a responsible citizen, it is our utmost duty and responsibility to love and care for our own,’ she said while expressing the need to come forward and involve in community services, as individuals and organisations, in these hard times. She said that AoK worked and planned with many Naga youths to come up with the latest initiative.
Speaking about the ground reality, she said that so much is needed to be done in sensitising the public about the Covid-19. She said they came to know during the outreach programme on Friday that some people were still not well-informed about the present health crisis.
