Advisor Khamo calls for responsible use of public properties
Pfütsero — Advisor of Central Administrative Works Department (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Tuesday inaugurated a General Administration (GA) rest house in Pfütsero town under Phek district and called for responsible use and safeguarding of government facilities and properties.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Khamo expressed gratitude to landowners for enabling the construction of offices and developmental projects in the region. However, he raised concerns over certain land donors obstructing development, stating that reclaiming donated or sold land is both morally and legally unjustifiable.
He urged the community to address such issues, emphasising that traditionally reclaiming parted land was considered a severe transgression.
Highlighting the government’s efforts to enhance road infrastructure, Khamo said the administration is committed to promoting tourism, sports and youth empowerment.
He also encouraged merit-based opportunities for those aspiring to join government services and reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the Naga political issue by urging all factions to unite under a single umbrella.

Describing Pfütsero as a hardworking and hospitable town, Khamo called on the public to rise above political affiliations and work collectively for community welfare. He advised the Chakhesang public to collaborate with the government, lifting community spirit and upholding honesty to achieve holistic development.
Khamo further stressed the need to adapt the fast-changing global environment by fostering new ideas and innovative approaches and urged the people of Pfütsero to take the lead in embracing progress and competing with sincerity.
Meanwhile MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero emphasised the importance of valuing public properties, noting that Pfütsero is home to around 30 government offices including five central offices. He encouraged the public to contribute towards the upkeep of those offices and suggested to dedicate at least one day annually to clean them.
Mero also expressed concern over the decision of the School Education department to close more than a hundred schools in the state. He called on churches, village leaders and community leaders to strategise and work towards increasing school enrollments in the district.
Former minister, Neiba Kronu, reflected on the historical significance of the rest house, which was first constructed in 1967. He explained that the new facility was initiated in 2014-15 and completed despite challenges and acknowledged the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, for allocation of funds from state fund.
Kronu urged the Chakhesang community to cooperate with development authorities and enable their representatives to bring further progress to the region.
The assistant chief engineer of CAWD, Sungtiba Amer, presented the technical report, wherein he informed that the GA rest house, along with the kitchen-cum-chowkidar quarters and gate, was constructed by M/s Oriental Agency. The project, initiated in 2015, was completed in 2022 at a cost of INR 3.5 crore. He further commended the contractor for the quality work.
Folk songs were performed by the Phusachodu Youth Society and the Pfütseromi Youth Organisation. A song was also presented by Wekhro-u Thele.
The welcome address was delivered by Mhalo Humtsoe, ADC of Pfütsero, while Rev. Dr. Chekrovei Cho-o, executive secretary of CBCC, offered the dedicatory prayer. The event was chaired by Aloto Shohe, EAC.
The inaugural programme was attended by representative of Chakhesang Public Organisation and other frontal organisations and public of Pfütsero and neighbouring villages.
