DIMAPUR — ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dimapur, along with the NCSC SC&ST Kohima, Employment Exchange, Dimapur, and the Model Career Centre, Dimapur, organised a job fair at the AIDA Don Bosco campus on Saturday.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, the advisor of Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Excise Department, Moatoshi Longkumer, said that job fairs are more than just networking events as they are platforms for transformation and allow the individuals to explore new horizons, find careers that align with their passion and build relationships that can shape their professional futures.

Longkumer mentioned that such events reinforce the importance of collaboration in shaping a prosperous community and thriving economy. He added that one of the cornerstones of any successful organisation is the relationship between employers and employees.

Stating that employees have a significant role to play, he asserted that it is important for every employee to work with sincerity and with a sense of responsibility. He added adaptability and dedication are keys in today’s fast-changing work environment.

He stated that job fairs like today’s are invaluable as they serve as bridges between employers looking for talent and individuals eager to contribute. The advisor encouraged the employers to commit in creating environment where employees can thrive, while he also urged the employees to excel in everything they do so that together they can build not just successful businesses but thriving, inclusive and dynamic communities.

The district employment officer (DEO) of Dimapur, Gideon L Sumi, who was the guest of honour, urged the job seekers to take full advantage of the job fair.

He informed that over 72,000 educated unemployed youth have registered with the department in the state. He added that there are around 29,639 registered unemployed youth in Dimapur alone.

The assistant director of the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Dr. T Mohan, also addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of utilising job fairs to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers, particularly in the context of differently-abled individuals.

Companies including Toka MPCS, SBI Life, Chabou & Co., Quess Corp India and Employment Providers participated at the event.

The job fair attracted more than 400 job seekers.
