Our Reporter
Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): The Amur Falcon migratory season appears to have begun with sightings of a few birds reported around the roosting site at Pangti village.
The advisor of Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (AFRAU) Thungbemo told Eastern Mirror that few of the migratory birds have been observed hovering around the roosting site at Pangti Village.
Thungbemo added that the first batch of birds had not yet arrived, however they are expecting them to arrive within this week.
The advisor also informed that AFRAU has restricted visitors at the Amur Falcon roosting place during the October.
It may be mentioned that on September 18, AFRAU resident, P Thungchumo Shidio, informed in a press statement, that the restriction was imposed as the Amur Falcons avoided their actual roosting place at Pangti village during the last migration season.
According to the AFRAU, the reason behind this might be because of human habitation and disturbance during their first phase of arrival.
Therefore, the AFRAU resolved not to allowed visitors to pass Raphapen junction from October 1 to the 31st, and appealed to all the visitors and tourists to bear with the restriction.
