Mokokchung — An out-patient department (OPD) of the Anava Hospital was inaugurated in Settsü village under Mokokchung district on Tuesday in the presence of Temjenmenba, advisor of Transport and Technical Education, while the dedicatory prayer was said by Rev. Ponen Longchar, pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA).
The hospital is located enroute to Nagaland University in Zuneheboto and approximately 15 kilometers away from Mokokchung district headquarters.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Dr Sungdi expressed hope the hospital would be opened for indoor patients within two to three months.
“After the indoor facilities are open, we will deliver surgical services which we do not commonly find in this part of the region,” Dr. Sungdi said adding, “Initially we have only two doctors but in future more doctors will be joining us.”
He informed that plans are afoot to introduce clinical examination, pharmacy, lab and investigative procedures.
During the programme, testimony and vision of the hospital was shared by Metongmeren Ao, chairman of Anava Welfare Society, and Dr. Nadia Jamir.
Dr. Nadia Jamir guided the gathering through the journey of establishing the hospital and mentioned that the foundation for the hospital was laid in 2018. She explained meaning of the word Anava, which is an excerpt from a Hebrew word meaning ‘humility and gentleness.’
Dr. Nadia thanked everyone, who have contributed towards the building of the hospital and assured that the hospital would work with patience, love and care for all sick people.
“We want the hospital to stand out for an attitude for serving others with love,” she said.
Meanwhile, Temjenmenba stated that establishment of Anava hospital was the best way of giving back to the society by doing noble deeds for people of the district as well as from neighbouring districts. Congratulating Dr. Sungdi and family for the noble venture, he stated that the people of Mokokchung and neigbouring districts would be benefitted from the hospital.
He further stated that the government would be ready to extend help in whichever way possible towards the hospital.
Short speeches were also delivered by chairman of Settsu village and president of Changki Union Mokokchung.
Rev. Ponen Longchar administered the dedicatory prayer after which the hospital was inaugurated by Metongmeren Ao.
