APC advises agriculture students to be solution seekers

DIMAPUR — Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Vyasan R, has called upon the agriculture students to be the best version of themselves and encouraged them to be adventurous and be solution seekers to benefit the farmers.

He stated this during the 30th parting social of B.Sc. Agriculture (Honours) 4th year and M.Sc. Agriculture 2nd year students at the School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema campus on June 15.

Pointing out that expectations in the real world often fall short despite whatever knowledge the students might be equipped with, he advised them to open minded and be able to adapt and stand firm.

“You will definitely fail and fall on the road ahead but what is more important is that you must rise like the resilient crop, which withstands all adversities,” Vyasan said.

He, therefore, advised the students to be the best version of themselves. He also encouraged them to be adventurous and be solution seekers in order to benefit the farmers.

The special guest also released the school annual magazine ‘Hill Agri’ on the occasion.

The vice chancellor of NU, Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, who also spoke on the occasion, stated that every milestone achievement is a cause for celebration but cautioned that one must never become complacent.

“Hard work, honesty, empathy and sincerity are the hallmarks of success and one must strive to have these qualities engrained in one’s psyche. Only then can one become truly successful and find happiness,” Prof. Patnaik said.

Prof. Akali Sema, pro vice chancellor of SAS:NU, exhorted the students and reminded them to be mindful about comparing themselves to others as each one is unique, talented and accomplished in their own ways.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. L Daiho, dean of SAS:NU, while an invocation prayer was said by Abel Domeh, EU president. Silubui spoke on behalf of B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) 4th year, while Vizule Kweho spoke on behalf of M.Sc. (Ag) 2nd year and Manpha C Konyak spoke on behalf of the remaining students.

Songs were presented by EUAS and SUAS, while the M.Sc. (Ag) 1st year students enthralled the audience with a Manipuri folk dance. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Azuto Yepthomi, SUAS general secretary.
