DIMAPUR — In celebration of Children’s Day, Assam Rifles organised a ‘Run for fun’ event for students from various schools in Pungro town, Kiphire district on Thursday.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with over 1,000 students participating with high energy and excitement, making the occasion memorable and spirited, a defence release stated.
The race featured separate categories for boys and girls, with prizes awarded to the first, second, and third place winners in each category, recognising their efforts and sportsmanship.
Assam Rifles also used the platform to promote the upcoming Half Marathon in Shillong, set to take place on November 24, encouraging students to embrace a culture of fitness and health.
The event concluded with Assam Rifles motivating students to stay fit and dedicated to their studies, wishing them good luck and success in their future endeavours.
“This initiative by Assam Rifles reflects its commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement,” the release added.
