DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles, on the occasion of Women’s Equality Day, presented tokens of appreciation to Sano Vamuzo, Padma Shri awardee and advisor of the Naga Mother Association (NMA); Vilanuo Angela Yhome, president of the NMA; and Neibanuo Angami, caretaker of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH).
This was a tribute to the relentless efforts of these women, who have been instrumental in uplifting and empowering women across Nagaland, stated a press release.
It mentioned that Vamuzo, a revered social worker with over 35 years of experience as a social worker and advocate for women’s rights, was lauded for her decades-long commitment to the welfare of women and marginalised communities.
Yhome, under her presidency, has led the NMA in making significant strides in addressing issues related to women’s rights, health, and education. She has been at the forefront of women’s advocacy for more than 25 years. Neibanuo, of the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, was honoured for her more than 21 years of service to underprivileged children and women in the region, it mentioned.
