Assam Rifles intercepts 6 trucks, seize areca nuts, Burma teak

DIMAPUR— Assam Rifles intercepted six trucks illegally transporting around 40 tons of areca nuts worth approximately INR 4.80 crore and 60 tons of Burma teak worth approximately INR 75 lakh from Jessami-Chakabama road in Chakabama area on Tuesday.

A defence release informed that the items were being smuggled from Jessami towards Dimapur in three trucks carrying areca nuts and another three trucks loaded with Burma teak. The items were handed over to Custom department and Forest department, Kohima, for further legal proceedings, the release stated.
