Assam Rifles organises plog, agricultural tour

DIMAPUR — As part of the ‘Fit India Freedom Run 4.0’ campaign on the theme ‘Swacch Bharath, Swasth Bharat’, the Assam Rifles organised a plog on October 29 in Mokokchung.

According to a press release, 220 people took part in the plog, including civilians, Assam Rifles troops, and their families.

Similarly, the Assam Rifles organised a ‘Run for fun’ under Fit India Freedom Run 4.0 at Sheanghah Chingnyu and Chenmoho villages in Mon, with 42 children and 38 troops participating.

A plog was also conducted at Longwa village, Mon, with the objective of ameliorating living conditions and cleaning the surroundings, in which 15 villagers along with 25 troops of Assam Rifles participated.

During this event, a total of 1.2 km of area was covered.

Agricultural tour for farmers

On October 29, the Assam Rifles organised an agricultural tour for the farmers of the Chenloisho cluster of villages in Mon. The commandant of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme flagged off the six-day tour from Chenloisho.

The tour includes 20 farmers from the border villages of Mon district, including Chenloisho, Langkhao, Silam, Bongzu, and Wangto.

Loyem Cup and inter-school tournament

The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Chang Students’ Union, organised the 31st edition of the Loyem Memorial Cup in Tuensang on October 29. A total of 600 people attended the event.

It also organised an inter-school football tournament for students in Phek district from October 25 to 28. A total of 19 teams—12 boys’ and 7 girls’—from 10 different schools participated in the tournament.

It was won by the girls’ team from Govt. High School, Losami, and the boys’ team from Govt. Higher Secondary School, Phek, and the prizes included cash, medals, trophies, certificates, and sports kits.
