Assam’s Education minister takes stock of issues related to education in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, July 9 (EMN): Assam’s Education minister, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, visited Diphu on Friday to review the educational problems in the twin hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong for the first time after taking charge.
He chaired a meeting with the CEM of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, and his colleagues in the conference hall of the new KAAC’s building.
Interacting with the media persons he said, ‘We have discussed the educational problems relating to primary to higher education. The issue of Karbi language as MIL and Karbi medium schools at the primary level was also discussed. Karbi Anglong is in the special focus area of ministry of human resources as there are several blocks that are educationally backward. There are problems in infrastructure, teacher’s appointment, some issues need to be strengthened in the Education department and appointments’.
The minister added that the department would work in coordination with the ministry of HAD regarding Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
Besides, the meeting deliberated on creation of posts and establishment of Education department, issues relating to elementary education, secondary education, adult education, higher education, Diphu Government College and Eastern Karbi Anglong College in Hanjanglangso, Rangsina College in Dongkamukam, Thongnokbe College in Dokmoka, Rukasen College in Volongkom Aji, proposal for provincialisation of colleges, DIET, Basic Training Centre, Karbi language teacher and Karbi Medium Schools, Diphu Polytechnic, SSA Employees working under KAAC, establishment of proposed Sumila Ronghangpi Memorial Residential School at Langtara Phangcho Pherere Arong, West Karbi Anglong, Principal of Diphu Government College (DGC) and creation of the post of VP for DGC, special consideration for provincialisation of Venture Education Institutions under KAAC, proposal to conduct Special TET Exam by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and others.
