Asufü Christian Institute holds webinar on people’s perspective and worldview
Dimapur, Oct. 17 (EMN): The department of Sociology, Asufü Christian Institute (ACI), Punanamei (Mao) organised a webinar on ‘People’s Perception and Worldview’ with Martin Kamodang, asst. professor, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi as the speaker.
D Thaongaolou, a final year student of Soc. (Hons.) moderated the webinar and Dr. Kaya, HoD of Sociology welcomed all the participants and gave a brief introduction about the speaker while K Athishu, the vice principal of ACI thanked the speaker, an update informed.
Meanwhile, the speaker accentuated interpretative Sociology, as to how groups of people make sense of the world around them and knowledge of ourselves and others is derived from the experience of ourselves and others forming internal, mental representations of the social world. Further, Martin emphasised that worldview shapes our beliefs, attitudes, actions and philosophies. He said that as sociologists, critical thinking is vital on how knowledge is produced, selected and interpreted. He further challenged the students to think out of the box and called for the need to deconstruct methodology to be defined by who we are and not what we are not, it said.
