ATMA Tuensang holds farmer-scientist interaction
DIMAPUR — The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Tuensang, organised a farmer-scientist interaction on the theme ‘Sustainable agriculture and livestock farming’ at Alisopur village, Tuensang, on Tuesday.
According to a press release, 20 farmers from Alisopur and Longkhetpeh villages participated in the interaction.
During the session, subject experts, Dr. Temjennungsang, ACTO (Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services), Samuel Sangtam, ACTO (Agronomy) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and Dr. Toshimenla, deputy project director, ATMA, talked about sustainable ways of farming, the importance of cropping systems to enhance productivity and sustainability, improved production technology of pulses, soil improvement, and livestock farming, with special emphasis on piggery production and management.
The panel of experts also discussed in detail various field-level problems raised by farmers and suggested solutions. Plant protection kits, such as neem oil, yellow sticky traps, roban cake, and winter vegetable seeds, were also distributed to participants during the programme.
