DIMAPUR — Tetso College held its 6th graduation ceremony on Tuesday at Lorin Hall, with L Mongkum Jamir, president of the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), and Glenn T Thong, pro-vice chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema, as the commencement speakers.

Jamir, in his speech, shared his journey and highlighted the importance of perseverance, leadership, and stewardship. He stated that everything is interlinked and emphasised the need for creating wealth.

Accentuating the perception among the Nagas that money is considered a sin and the creation of wealth a taboo, the speaker cautioned that without vigilance, there are those who might attempt to overpower or undermine them.

Jamir, who is also the managing director of SymBios Creations Pvt. Ltd., deliberated on the necessity of entrepreneurship, encouraging students to create jobs rather than seek them.

Meanwhile, Thong underscored the importance of hard work and dedication in achieving success. He compared the present, which is characterised by a surplus of job seekers competing for fewer openings, with the past, when there were numerous government positions and a small pool of qualified applicants.

Nevertheless, he assured the students of the numerous opportunities beyond government employment, encouraging them to explore diverse sectors. He advocated for continuous effort and perseverance until their aspirations are realised.

Earlier, in the welcome address, Kvulo Lorin, director of Tetso College, advised the students to use their time wisely, find a mentor or role model, and remain positive and hopeful in a pessimistic society.

Dr. Hewasa L Khing, principal of Tetso College, encouraged the students to translate their aspirations into actions characterised by ethical conduct and practice.

It was mentioned that this year, a total of 531 students graduated.
