DIMAPUR — MGM College, Dimapur, on Monday hosted Bishop Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Calcutta Diocese and Manager Bishop of MGM Group of Institutions, for an inspiring programme that resonated with “purpose and vision.”

According to an update, Bishop Alexios, in his address, called on the students and faculty to pursue education that transcends academic achievement, underscoring the importance of nurturing both intelligence and character.

Quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he reminded the audience that “the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.”

He encouraged students to build values alongside knowledge and urged them to think beyond textbooks and contribute meaningfully to society.

Acknowledging the rise of artificial intelligence, Bishop Alexios advised students to embrace AI as a tool to enhance their academic pursuits. He stressed that while technology offers immense potential, true education is rooted in wisdom, ethics and character.

The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting led by Bishop Alexios, the college administrator, Fr. Giju George, and principal, Dr. RK Behera.

Dr. Behera, in his welcome address, highlighted MGM College’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.

The invocation prayer was said by Limekali Shohe, assistant professor, and concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Fuchumo Yanthan, head of History department.
