BJP sweeps Karbi Anglong LAC elections

Diphu, May 3 (EMN): The results for the four (ST) LACs i.e. Diphu, Bokajan, Howraghat and Baithalangso, West Karbi Anglong were declared on Sunday evening. For No.18 Howraghat (ST) LAC and No.19 Diphu (ST) LAC counting started from morning 7 am at Diphu Govt. College and the final results were declared at 11.30 pm.

From Diphu, BJP candidate Bidyasing Engleng won with a huge margin of 40,528 votes against his nearest rival Congress candidate Sum Ronghang.

Engleng secured a total 77032 votes while Sum Ronghang secured a total of 36504 votes.

In Howraghat, BJP candidate Dorsing Ronghang won with a comfortable margin of 31683 votes against his nearest rival Congress candidate Sanjeeb Teron.

Ronghang has secured 57927 votes while Teron secured 26244 votes.

In Bokajan, BJP candidate Dr. Numal Momin won with a margin of 17885 votes against his nearest rival Congress candidate Ratan Engti. Dr. Momin has secured 60726 votes while Ratan Engti secured 42841 votes.

In Baithalangso, BJP candidate Rupsing Teron won by a huge margin of 53437.

Rupsing Teron secured 89715 while Augustine Enghee secured 36278.

With massive win by BJP in three (ST) LACs in Karbi Anglong, president, BJP East Karbi Anglong district committee, Dhansing Teron congratulated the parties winning in the four (ST) LACs in both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong and also expressed gratitude to the voters.

In the concluded Assembly election, the results of which were declared on May 2, BJP has won three seats from Karbi Anglong and one from West Karbi Anglong. Bidyasing Engleng won from Diphu, Dr. Numal Momin from Bokajan, Dorsing Ronghang from Howraghat and Rupsing Teron from Baithalangso, West Karbi Anglong.

Teron speaking to jpurnalists in a press conference at BJP EKADC office on Monday said, “I thank the people of Karbi Anglong for still having faith on BJP and giving full mandate. People have again voted the BJP for the second term as they have seen the development works and welfare schemes done by BJP government. We see Diphu town fitted with street lights in all streets. Nights are like days as there is light. Apart from health schemes other welfare schemes are benefited by the weaker sections of people.”

Teron also expressed how the BJP government and leaders worked tirelessly during Covid-19 pandemic and were always with the people. In the coming days people of Karbi Anglong will witness more development, Teron said. “I congratulate Bidyasing Engleng for winning from Diphu, Dr. Numal Momin from Bokajan, Dorsing Ronghang from Howraghat and Rupsing Teorn from Baithalangso,” Teron added.

On the night of May 2 at Diphu Govt. College, where counting for No.18 Howraghat (ST) LAC and No.19 Diphu (ST) LAC were taking place and ahead of declaration of the final result, Bidyasing Engleng from Diphu (ST) LAC who was leading with a massive margin told reporters that it was the hard work of Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang that he was able to win the Diphu seat.

“It was the hard work and support extended to me by CEM Tuliram Ronghang that I could win Diphu seat. I specially thank CEM Tuliram Ronghang as under his able leadership the four seats from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong could capture by BJP,” Engleng said. “I also extend my gratitude to the voters of Diphu LAC for the love and support extended to me making me win the election,” Engleng further added saying.

He has proposed for an engineering college in Karbi Anglong, to have a full-fledged university in Diphu and creating jobs to educated unemployed youths.
