Dimapur, June 6 (EMN):
Health authorities on Saturday declared eight Covid-19 patients, who were being treated at District Hospital, Dimapur, as ‘recovered’.

The announcement came on a day when Nagaland reported 13 more Covid-19 positive cases, taking the state’s tally to 107.

“13 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours out of 252 samples tested. All the samples tested were from Chennai returnees,” the minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, tweeted.

Nagaland recorded its first three Covid-19 positive cases on May 25.

Later in the evening, Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, in his daily Covid-19 briefing, informed that eight out of the 107 cases have recovered after treatment in Covid-19 hospital.

This was followed by another tweet from Phom. “Very delighted to share that 8 patients admitted at Covid-19 hospital, Dmp were tested negative for Covid-19 in second test. They have been shifted to Covid-19 care centre and they are under the process of discharge for home quarantine under active surveillance,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, according to the home commissioner, till date, a total of 3,959 samples have been tested.

“The results of 2,619 samples have been received out of which 107 are positive. The results of 1,340 samples are awaited. Through the TrueNat testing machines, so far, a total of 102 samples have been tested and all are negative. A total of 4,983 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” he informed.

Out of the total active cases, only one patient is symptomatic.

The home commissioner also informed that officials from the departments of Health and Home presented a detailed briefing on the Covid-19 situation in the state during a cabinet meeting held on Friday.

“The provisions of the standard operating procedure for the returnees to Nagaland and the measures being taken for further streamlining the entire management of the quarantine centres were also discussed. The Health department also gave a briefing on the health status of the positive cases undergoing treatment at the Covid-19 hospitals,” he said.

According to Sinha, 41 stranded citizens arrived from Himachal Pradesh on two buses on Friday.

“Further, 88 passengers in 3 buses from Chandigarh, and 165 passengers in 6 buses from Uttar Pradesh are reaching the state this evening (June 6). I would to inform that the one-time financial assistance of INR 10,000 to persons from Nagaland stranded outside the state, and those who have decided to voluntarily stay back in their respective places has been paid to 14,943 persons amounting to INR 14.94 crore,” the official added.

Sufficient beds in hospitals

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton told journalists in Kohima that there are enough beds in Tourist Lodge to accomodate patients.

“So any time we get patients, we will admit them into Tourist Lodge Covid-19 hospital,” he said.

Owing to a sharp rise in the number of Covid patients, the Cabinet had, on June 1, resolved to convert the Tourist Lodge into a dedicated Covid-19 hospital. With this, Dimapur has two Covid-19 facilities—the District Hospital, Dimapur and the Tourist lodge.
