Kohima, Oct. 23 (EMN):
As the polling day for the bye-election draws closer, the residents of Mitelephe village in Kohima district were told not to ‘miss the opportunity and vote for the ruling government’ on Friday.

Addressing the Nationalist Democratic Progress Party (NDPP) bye-election campaign for 14-Southern Angami-I assembly constituency, Advisor for Water Resources, Namri Nchang said that the ‘election is not a new thing for the people of Nagaland’ with the first general election being held in 1964.

Stating that people differ in ideas and opinion, he however urged the voters from the constituency to choose and elect their representative wisely. “Your vote is your right,” he said and encouraged the people to vote for the NDPP candidate, Medo Yhokha so that ‘development will reach the people’.

Reminding that the constituency had elected the departed leader Vikho-o Yhoshü in the last general elections, he urged the people to trust the ruling government for development. In life, he said, ‘we need education, development’.

He further stated that electing a responsible leader from the constituency will bring and ensure development in all fronts.

Advisor for Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, who also spoke during the programme, recalled his association with Yhoshü since college days and in state politics, and lamented the loss.

He urged the people of the constituency to vote for the NDPP candidate ‘who would work with the ruling government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and ensure that development reaches the people’.
