DIMAPUR — The election campaign for the long-awaited urban local body (ULB) elections will end at 7:30 am on Monday.
The end of the campaign also marks the commencement of a 48-hour silence period, which mandates political parties and candidates to stop election-related activities in the polling constituencies.
The election, which is scheduled for June 26, will witness polling in 25 ULBs, including three municipalities, across ten districts. This will be the first time that civic polls in the state will be conducted with 33 per cent reservation for women.
A total of 2,76,229 voters, including 1,40,167 women and 1,36,062 men, will decide the fate of the 523 candidates in the fray in 214 wards, while 64 candidates have already been elected unopposed.
