CAN lay leaders and catechists conclave concludes
DIMAPUR — A four-day lay leaders and catechists conclave organised by the Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) at Newman Pastoral Centre, Chümoukedima, concluded on September 30.
An update from CAN stated that Fr. Vekupa George Rhakho, director of Newman Pastoral Centre, Chümoukedima; Fr. Jaison Thomas, rector of Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur; Fr. GL Khing, vice principal of NEISSR, Dimapur; Elias T Lotha, commissioner of Transport and advisor of CAN; Veronica Nriame, psychiatric social worker at NHAK and joint secretary of NCYM; Johnny Ruangmei, joint CEO of NSDMA and president of CAN; Fr. Paul Inashe, parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Lazami;, and Fr. Carolus Neisalhou Kuotsu, vicar general and ecclesiastical assistant of CAN, were the resource persons of the conclave.
It stated that the event concluded with an annual central general body meeting with Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the special guest. During the meeting, CAN honoured nine jubilarians namely Pezachülie Philip, Hubert Apei Phom, Neisiezolie Cyril, Paunam Mark, Anthony Magh, Thungdemo Timothy Ezung, Urbanus N Ezung, M John Patton, and Krusalie Petrus Sophi, who have served 25 years or more as catechists.
It further stated that more than 160 Catholic leaders from all over Nagaland attended the conclave.
