Capt. N Kenguruse tournament: Head Hunters FC crowned champions
KOHIMA — Head Hunters FC clinched the championship in the Capt. N Kenguruse MVC Memorial Football Tournament by defeating Mez & Co FC in the final at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Tuesday.
Head Hunters FC claimed a 3-0 victory in a game that extended into extra time. Pursunep broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute, while Thanglenhao and Visieto added two more goals in the 113th and 115th minutes.
Halcyon United clinched third place with a 7-0 win over Dynamo FC.
Leading the way, Vebizo completed a hat-trick, scoring in the 8th, 34th, and 53rd minutes. Erikulo contributed two goals in the 24th and 29th minutes, while Eneibe and Petevizo sealed the victory with goals in the 40th and 49th minutes.
Head Hunters FC awarded a trophy, certificates, medals, and a cash prize of INR 3,00,000. Mez & Co FC, as runners-up, received a trophy, certificates, medals, and INR 1,50,000. Halcyon United received certificates, medals, and INR 75,000, while Dynamo FC took home certificates and INR 50,000.
In individual awards, Kevisanyu of Maverick FC won the golden boot with 6 goals, receiving a trophy and INR 13,000. Dziesengulie of Head Hunters FC claimed the golden glove, earning a trophy and INR 8,000.
The best defender award was presented to Thejangulie Zatsu of Mez & Co FC, who received a trophy and INR 8,000. Winamthiu of Head Hunters FC was named best midfielder and awarded a trophy and INR 8,000.
The player of the tournament title went to Hamping L of Head Hunters FC, who received a trophy and INR 13,000.
The Advisor for Information and Public Relations, Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Fifth Note, winners of the “Ticket to Hornbill” band battle, performed during halftime.
