Casting of postal ballots for ULB election in Nagaland commences
DIMAPUR — To facilitate voting for employees on election duty for the upcoming urban local body polls, the casting of postal ballots commenced on Monday.
In Kohima, votes for election to Kohima Municipal Council were cast at the District Customary Court, DC Office, Kohima. A total of 103 postal ballots were issued, out of which 101 votes have been cast, stated an update from the DIPR.
Following the completion of voting of those on election duty, the ballot boxes were deposited at the strong room and sealed in the presence of Election Observer for KMC, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, ADC Kohima, Assistant Returning Officer, Nodal Officer for Voting of Voters on Election Duty, and political parties.
The strong room is under CCTV surveillance along with full security, stated the update.
In Dimapur, the casting of ballots took place at the Commissioner of Taxes office and the process was overseen by EAC, Imtijungla Lemtur, nodal officer for postal ballots.
Lemtur informed that 59 voters had availed the postal ballot services for the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and five voters for the East Dimapur Town Council.
The postal ballot voting process was conducted in the presence of authorised representatives from various candidates, who observed the procedure from the start, said the update.
