KOHIMA — The three-day Mission Conference 2024 of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), themed “God’s mission, our task,” concluded on Sunday at Phek Town Baptist Church.

The Sunday worship service on November 10 saw an attendance of around 7,000 congregants, including 1,437 registered delegates comprising reverends, pastors, youth leaders, children’s teachers, women pastors, church leaders, and 38 missionaries.

Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), spoke on the topic “God’s mission, soul winning” and highlighted that the greatest gift foreign missionaries provided was the word of God.

He emphasised that building churches, establishing schools, and raising leaders were secondary to the primary task of sharing God’s word.

Rev. Keyho also encouraged the missionaries present not to be discouraged if they did not witness immediate results in their mission, reminding them that their role was to share the word of God, while the Holy Spirit was responsible for changing hearts.

Speaking on the topic “God’s mission, our task” at the Sunday worship service, Rev. Sehu Belho, Strategic Coordinator for Course Mission, Nagaland, urged that “we must make God’s mission our task,” adding that there is an urgent need to elevate mission work to a greater level in order to reach the unreached.

Sharing greetings, Rev. Lipok Pongener, secretary of the Nagaland Missions Movement, NBCC, stated that the northeast is at the epicentre of mission work. He challenged the congregation to recommit to mission work at a greater level and to send missionaries, regardless of whether the 10,000 missionary target has been reached.

Rev. Dr. Sülüveyi Rhakho, coordinator of Globe Serve International in Minneapolis, USA, addressed local mission board leaders during a plenary session on Saturday. He highlighted that over 2.9 billion individuals have heard the gospel but are not Christians.

In a separate plenary session with pastors on Saturday, Ravikho-ii Kera, former women’s secretary of the Angami Baptist Church Council, emphasised the importance of cross-cultural training before sending individuals to the mission field.

She discussed essential aspects of mission work, including working guidelines, networking, coordination, and partnership.
