Chang Khulei Setshang wraps donation drive for landslide victims
TUENSANG — The Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) wrapped up its donation drive on Tuesday, which was aimed at helping families impacted by the recent landslides in Tuensang town.
Running from August 9 to August 20, the drive garnered support from various organisations, such as the Eastern Nagaland Public Organisation, Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen, tribal units of Tuensang town, village councils, sector unions, and individual donors.
The presidents of the five sectors most severely affected by the landslides received the cash and material donations that had been gathered. Significant damage to homes and infrastructure has been occurring in these areas as a consequence of prolonged and heavy rainfall since April, leading to the widespread displacement of residents.
The landslides have led to the displacement of approximately 768 individuals, with at least 25 residential structures completely destroyed and 47 severely damaged. The total number of residential structures affected is over 378.
