Dimapur, Feb. 2 (EMN): Nagaland chief secretary and chairman of Project Steering Committee (PSC), J Alam, launched the Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR) official project website www.nagalandeduproject.com on January 31.

The website was launched in the presence of Kevileno Angami, special secretary of School Education department and vice chairperson of PSC, and Shanavas C, principal director of School Education department, stated an update from the School Education department.

The website aims to foster communication with various stakeholders and the public involved in the project directly or indirectly. The website would serve as a medium for communication related to disclosure of all publicly available project documents, project updates, project announcements, news and messages, grievance redressal etc., the report added.

The department of School Education has urged every individual and organisations to make use of the platform to understand about the project and to give various suggestions, feedback, comments etc., to make the project a success in Nagaland.

It mentioned that the NECTAR project was designed as the first targeted initiative in the state that could pioneer instructional leadership. It would re-orient the education system from a focus on inputs towards a focus on learning outcomes and provide a model for developing teachers as instructional leaders. The project was expected to enhance the systemic transformation in Nagaland’s teaching cadre, enhance the governance and management of its schools and boost students’ learning outcomes.

It expected that the focus of the project on technology-led transformation of governance systems might serve as a model template for the rest of the country. The project components are expected to pilot several innovations in teacher management, community accountability, and improving classroom transactions. Report further stated that the project would develop and implement innovative models for technology integration, decentralised management of education systems, and community driven accountability mechanisms.

The launch event was graced by several dignitaries including the member secretary of PSC, head of departments from NBSE, SCERT, DSE, Samagra Shiksha, Rural Development, PHED, Agriculture, Social Welfare, and Finance, who are all members of the PSC, members from project management unit and project management consultants.
