Chozuba road project: Contractor refutes allegations of substandard work
DIMAPUR — In response to allegations of substandard work on the Chozuba town road construction project, the contractor has issued a press release clarifying the situation and refuting the claims made by Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo.
The release, received here on Wednesday, acknowledged the advisor’s concern for the quality of work in Chozuba town but stated that the road construction is “progressing well.”
“It is to be clarified that the construction of the Chozuba town road is progressing well while the social media post to which Kudecho Khamo reacted was when the contractor was trying to clear the unwanted weeds which had sprouted on the surface while the work had stopped following incessant rain during the Grade-I and Grade-II works period,” the contractor, Zakie Angami, stated in the release.
It further explained that the work resumed after the weeds were burned and herbicides were sprayed, and the remaining works, including laying of Grade-III, are yet to be completed.
Maintaining that the contractor has been following all laid down specifications by the PWD (Roads and Bridges) to deliver quality works at all cost, it expressed disappointment that the advisor reacted solely based on social media posts and made, “false demand for action against the contractor without seeking any clarification from either the department or the contractor.”
It also highlighted instances of two individuals from Yoruba village, Mutsekhoyi Lohe and Vekuvoyi Lohe, who have reportedly “been creating nuisance against the workforce by damaging the surfaces with vehicle keys on the pretext of quality check.”
“While also claiming to be landowners they even went to the extent of threatening the workers because of which many labourers have fled the site,” stated the press release.
In this connection, the contractor requested the ADC Chozuba to check such unwanted activities so that the project can be completed on time.
