KOHIMA — The newly elected members of the Chozuba Town Council (CTC) under Phek district took oath of affirmation during a programme held at the ADC office on Saturday.
Dr. Daina Patton, ADC of Chozuba and RO, administered the oath of affirmation to the newly elected councilors of the nine wards.
Speaking at the program, advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, congratulated all the elected members and called upon them to work as responsible leaders for the uplift of the town.
Khamo stated that as councilors, they are expected to carry out their duties with utmost sincerity and responsibility. He maintained that despite many hurdles, the state government was able to passed the new Municipal Act 2023 and successfully conduct the ULB elections in the state after two decades, through the visionary leadership of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio.
He also reminded them that leadership is a position not only of privileges but also of significant responsibility.
While pointing out that Chozuba town has many challenges ahead, he encouraged the councilors to work together as a team along with the administration and their local legislator for the uplift the people and society.
Out of the total nine elected members, four from NDPP along with three Independent candidates staked their claim to form the town council. The members have proposed Sevonyi Keyho as chairperson and Vezota Rhakho as deputy chairperson.
