Dimapur, July 11 (EMN): Rising People’s Party (RPP) has urged the state government to grant age relaxation for Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) combined civil services examination and combined technical services examination, keeping in view the current Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement on Sunday, RPP stated that since the examinations cannot be conducted due the prevailing situation, ‘age relaxation should be granted to aspiring candidates’.
“For instance, if a candidate had had his last chance of appearance in 2020, his/her case should be considered and relaxation in age given if and when NPSC decides to conduct the exam,” it read.
RPP has therefore requested the Nagaland Cabinet to consider this relaxation case on humanitarian grounds.
RPP further pointed out that the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) Regulations 2020 was formulated after SSB was set up in the state.
“It was therefore expected that the state government would desist from conducting departmental exams henceforth. Unfortunately, it has come to our notice that some of the departments did conduct departmental exams in 2020 even after the NSSB was set up giving the excuse that the latter was yet to be operational,” it read.
The party has therefore asked the chief secretary to issue a clarification regarding the same.
“The RPP expects NSSB operational issues to be sorted out by now and all departmental exams discontinued. The pain and frustration of the diligent and aspiring candidates –wanting to join the state bureaucracy — is very real and it is expected of the state government to stop playing with the emotions of our students,” it added.
