CS urges Education dept. for successful implementation of welfare schemes

Dimapur, Feb. 16 (EMN): Nagaland chief secretary and chairman of state level steering-cum-monitoring committee (SLSCMC), J Alam, has underlined the need to take special care for successful implementation of various welfare schemes and instructed the department to work tirelessly towards successful implementation of the scheme.

Alam stated this during the SLSCMC meeting held on February 16 at the chief secretary’s conference hall in Kohima to discuss the annual work plan and budget for PM Poshan (mid day meal) 2022-2023, a DIPR report stated.

The principal director of School Education, Shanavas C, made a powerpoint presentation on the activities carried out by the department during 2020-21 and stated that the department has been implementing food security allowance (FSA) as directed by the government of India to eligible children during the closure of schools on account of Covid-19.

He highlighted that parents/guardians of eligible children were asked to report to the school on specified dates and provided FSA, which were pre-packed in the presence of SMC, VEC, block level officials, community members etc. He added that the department had so far received positive feedback from the beneficiaries.

Shanavas informed that food grain entitlement for primary classes was 100 gm per student while the cooking cost was INR 4.97 per student. In the upper primary classes, foodgrain provided was 150 gm per student while the cooking cost was INR 7.45 per student.

Report further stated that discussion on the proposal for the year 2022-23 was also held and approved by the committee.
