DC Chümoukedima issues advisory for digging ring well

DIMAPUR — In view of the instances of casualties and injuries during digging of ring well in the district, the deputy commissioner (DC) and chairman of Chümoukedima district disaster management authority (DDMA), Abhinav Shivam has issues advisories and precautionary measures in the interest of public safety.

The advisory stated that best the best time to dig a well is at the end of the dry season when the underground water level is at its lowest.

It has asked to always have a helper nearby when digging and to never dig alone.

It advised to wear harness when entering the well and to stop digging when the well begins to crumble and show signs of collapse.

It also advised to cover the hole when digging is not in progress in order to prevent children or animal falling inside. It added that the diameter of ring well has to be 3 feet wide to ensure easy movement of the workers.
