Dimapur — The deputy commissioner of Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam, accompanied by the deputy commissioner of police, Chümoukedima, Munesh Payak, and Dobashi of Chümoukedima, Vanthungo Kikon, on Saturday visited the family members of the deceased and injured victims of July 4 incident.
It may be mentioned that a tragedy struck on July 4 evening when rockslide killed two persons and injured three others along the National Highway 29 in Chümoukedima district.
A DIPR report stated that the team led by DC Chümoukedima visited the families of the deceased at Razhaphe Basa and Lengrijan Dimapur and offered words of condolences and also handed over ex-gratia cheque of INR 4 lakh each.
The team also visited the injured victims (husband and wife) at CIHSR, where the DC offered words of comfort to the victims and handed over cheques to them. He also assured more help if need arises and asked them to inform him. It stated the DC would be visit the 3rd injured victim on July 7.
NSF sympathises with July 4 victims
Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): Naga Students Federation (NSF) has expressed pained at the tragic incident which took place along the NH 29 on July 4, wherein two precious lives were lost and three others sustained grave injury.
The federation expressed dismay at the failure of the competent authority and the NHIDCL to ensure safety of the citizens along the NH 29, which has already led to such tragic event.
The federation has appealed to the concerned authority and the NHIDCL to immediately set up all safety measures and other vital infrastructures in place so that such fatal incidents are averted in the near future. It is also appealed to all the commuters plying through the NH 29 route to be informed of the travel advisory issued by the concerned authority and accordingly comply with the same for safety reasons and necessary precaution.
The federation further appealed to immediately restore and repair the two major bypass routes, one along NH 29 at 7 Mile Chümoukedima-Shokhuvi-Pimla-Mhainamtsi-Pungwla-Jharnapani and the other along Kohima-Zhadima-Tsosinyu-Niuland-Dimapur for the convenience of the public and other travelers.
Meanwhile, the federation has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and wished a speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries in the unfortunate incident.
