DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) has demanded immediate action on the deteriorating road conditions in and around Dimapur.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, DDCC president Kutuho Chishi, along with other party and frontal organisation leaders, expressed concern over the dusty road conditions. They said that the “pathetic” roads are impacting public health and the livelihoods of those using small vehicles and carts.

With the festive season approaching and the ongoing renovation of the Road over Bridge (NH29), they urged the government to prioritise road repairs. ‘The most important infrastructure is good roads, but that is clearly not visible in the whole of Nagaland,’ they said, adding that the poor road conditions are also causing safety concerns for two-wheeler users and contributing to accidents.

They also criticised the recently elected urban local body (ULB) members, stating that they have not delivered on the commitment to improve roads and drainages as promised during their campaigns.

Further, the DDCC stated that it has received numerous public complaints regarding the implementation of several schemes in Dimapur district, including PMAYG, Job Card, and Jal Jeevan Mission.

These complaints allege that some village councils are improperly collecting money to implement these schemes, while others are deducting money from the intended beneficiaries.

‘The DDCC will investigate these allegations, working with relevant departments, and will release their findings publicly in the coming days,’ they said.
