DIMAPUR — Police personnel under Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, registered a total of 814 cases and arrested 712 persons under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL) during 2023 as on Decemebr 21.
Under IPC, police registered 543 cases and arrested 370 persons.
Crime under IPC included murder, attempt to murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rape, kidnapping and abduction, robbery, burglary, theft, criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, arson, grievous hurt, assault on women, cruelty by husband or relatives, extortion, causing death due to negligence, incidence of rash driving and others.
Crime under SLL included NDPS Act, NLTP Act, DC Act, Arms Act, Foreigners Act, Explosive Act, Gambling Act, Copyright Act, ITA Act, POCSO Act and others.
Under NDPS Act, police registered 88 cases and arrested 149 persons. Besides, it recovered various kinds of drugs worth INR 12,98,39,100.
Police also registered 49 cases and arrested 62 persons under extortion related cases. It recovered five arms, 90 rounds of ammunition, cash amount of INR 18,81,210 and 78 SP caps.
Under Arms Act related cases, it registered 45 cases and arrested 50 persons. Police also seized 59 arms, 3565 rounds of ammunitions, 100 gram of gun powder, cash amount of INR 4,75,330.
Under NLTP Act, police registered 129 cases and arrested 129 persons. It also seized 15946.5 litre of various brand of IMFL.
