DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has commended the educational institutions that have proactively extended their summer vacations in response to the severe heatwave and high humidity.

However, in a press statement, the union expressed concern that some educational institutions in and around Dimapur have not taken similar measures. Despite the extreme temperatures, exacerbated by recent rains, these schools continue to disregard the health and safety of their students.

“We issue a stern warning to these schools: if any adverse health issues arise due to the heat, they will be held solely accountable. It is their responsibility to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment. Neglecting this duty will have serious consequences,” it warned.

It reiterated its appeal to these schools to extend their summer vacations until the severe humidity subsides, stating that the health and well-being of students cannot be compromised.

The DNSU cautioned that if the concerned authorities fail to consider the extreme weather conditions and prioritise students’ health, they will be held responsible. The union added that it will take all necessary actions to protect the well-being of students.

It urged students and parents to report any adverse health issues caused by the heatwave to its secretary, education, at 9863455830.
