DoNER sanctioned 17 projects in Nagaland during 2018-2022

Dimapur, July 22(EMN): The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has sanctioned 17 projects worth INR 333.62 crore to Nagaland state during the Financial Year (FY) 2018-2022.
Out of the 17 projects sanctioned, one project at the cost of INR 20.96 crore has been completed as on July 20.
This was informed by the Minister of DoNER, G Kishan Reddy, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on July 21.
The minister also informed that Ministry of DoNER has sanctioned 145 projects worth INR 3,392.99 crore for the North Eastern States under North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS).
Out of the 145 projects sanctioned, completion certificate of two projects worth INR 50.90 crore have been received from the state government (Manipur and Nagaland) as on July 20, 2022.
Year-wise details of the total projects sanctioned shows that during FY 2018-19, 37 projects worth INR 1,119.55 crore was sanctioned under NESIDS, during 2019-20, 36 projects worth INR 601.62 crore sanctioned during 2020-21, 17 projects worth INR 491.71 crore and during 2021-22, 55 projects worth INR 1,180 crore was sanctioned.
Reddy also stated that under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme, out of 1,642 sanctioned projects worth INR 17,470.99 crore, 1,278 projects worth INR 10,919.76 crore have been completed by July 20, 2022.
The completion of projects is impacted by various factors including working season, locations of the projects’ sites, local conditions, and others which vary from project to project, he stated.
Further, he also informed that since 2017 till date, North Eastern Council (NEC), which is a statutory regional planning body under the administrative control of Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, has entered into eight Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) amounting to around INR 13.28 crore in the sectors of agriculture, culture, education, science & technology and tourism.
According to the update, three projects costing more than INR 100 crore have been sanctioned under NESIDS: upgradation of 132 KV Surjamaninagar Sub-Station into 400 KV in Tripura (INR 120.88 crore), construction of double lane road from Lanka to Umrangso via Diyungmukh, Haflong Tinali and Panimur, Assam (INR 227.17 crore), and Alternate Gravity Water Supply Scheme of Aizawl, Mizoram (INR 114.20 crore).
