Dr. T Ao Trophy: Goals galore for Peren and Tseminyu
Yhunshalo Kemp of Tseminyu scores the first hat-trick of the tournament

Mokokchung, April 20 (EMN): The second day of the ongoing 22nd Dr. T Ao Inter-District Football Championship 2022 witnessed a goal galore as Peren beat Noklak 5-0, while Tseminyu defeated Zunheboto 6-0 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Wednesday.
Ruthless Peren District Football Association blanked Football Association Noklak District by five goals to start their campaign in style.
The Peren team was three goals up within 19 minutes of the match. Ratobe N Poireng scored one, while Kenumdi, Winamthiu and Zumzum Punyii added a goal each for the team.
Peren showed their class with playmaker, Khiuwangbo Kaurintah taking the centre stage as they took an easy win in the first match. Noklak team were unable to penetrate in the first match finding not much opportunity as they succumbed to defeat.
The second match between debutant Shamator District Football Association and Longleng District Football Association ended in a goalless draw with both teams sharing a point each.
Shamator fought bravely but couldn’t register a goal in their first match. While the Longleng team would be optimistic to improvise their upcoming matches as they were left undone in their finishing.
In the match, Vicky Konyak and Thulonso Yimchunger of Shamator ,M Chinglung Phom of Longleng were cautioned with yellow cards for unsporting behavior during the match.
In the third match, Yhunshalo Kemp scored five as Football Association Tseminyu District thrashed Zunheboto District Football Association 6-0 in a rain soaked match.
Tseminyu striker Yhunshalo Kemp became the first hat-trick scorer of the tournament scoring five goals in the match.
Rain played spoilsport as the players played in the wet ground as soon as the match started. The Tseminyu team opened their account in the 6th minute through Ntsenlo Semp, while Yhunshalo Kemp completed his hat-trick in 13 minutes with his goal coming in at the 17th, 19th and 34th minute. He went on to score two more goals in the second half at the 38th and 50th minute.
The Zunheboto team gave no response as the Tseminyu team finished the match 5-0 at the end of the final whistle.
Kohima District Football Association upset host team Mokokchung District Football Association by a solitary goal in the last match of the day. Kohima forward Vilhoubeituo Yhome scored the only goal in the 57th minute.
Playing in a fully packed ground with the host playing their first match of the trophy, Mokokchung started brightly and gave the crowd their voice to cheer their home team.
However, they were undone in their finishing. Kohima took time to settle but got their momentum in the second half.
It was a moment of brilliance from the Kohima forward Yhome who latched on to a loose ball to strike into the empty net nulling the crowd in the 57th minute.
Mokokchung failed to make much impact in their finishing as Kohima took the game into their hand and held onto the lead till the final whistle of the match.
Kevisanyu of Kohima and Temsunungsang of Mokokchung were cautioned with a yellow card each.
