Excise Narcotic Cell seizes heroin in Chümoukedima

DIMAPUR —The deputy commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell) has informed that the cell has seized 69 soap boxes of sunflower (heroin) weighing approximately 759 gm from the possession of one SP Mesiingaolou.

In an update, it was informed that following a tip-off about illegal drug transactions in the 6th Mile area of Chümoukedima, the Excise Narcotic Cell personnel on duty swung into action and made the seizure. Mesiingaolou has been identified as a resident of Maram Bazar, Senapati, Manipur. The seized contraband drug was recovered from his trolley bag.

The accused was immediately arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The case is now under investigation.

The update informed that the effort of the duty party is highly commendable for their relentless work in effecting the seizure and combating the menace of drugs and illegal trafficking.
