Two-wheeler theft a major challenge
The commissioner of police informed that in serious cases, seven persons have been detained under National Security Agency.

Tetseo also informed that two-wheeler theft cases continue to be the highest this year too under theft category.
Two-wheeler theft is a major challenge for the police, he said, adding that it is difficult to detect as many people use unregistered motorcycles and many are registered from outside the state.
Informing that there were no cases of “snatched away”, he appealed to the owners to be more careful while parking their vehicles. In the absence of co-operation from the victims, it is very difficult to carry out investigation as well, he added.
Replying to a question relation to ILP checking, he said that there is no more check gates and police are not supposed to stop any vehicle without the presence of enforcement and inspection team. As per the government order, policeman cannot stop and check any vehicle unless they have specific information and police have to follow it, he added.
Hit and run case still under probe
When asked about the progress of the recent hit and run case in Chumoukedima, where a student was killed, the police commissioner replied that the case is still under investigation. He updated that the police have some information now and identified the type of vehicle. ‘We are doing our best and have even taken up scientific investigation for this particular case, which we had not done before,’ he added.
He also appealed to the public to inform the police if they have any information that can help identify the vehicle and accused involved in the case. He said that they were not able to arrest the culprit as there is no direct eye-witness.
‘We had an extensive search and we have received footages from various stretches of roads, and they have been sent for forensic analysis,’ he updated.
