Faculty development programme underway at SJU
DIMAPUR — With an aims to foster the educational endeavour and hone professionalism of higher education among the teaching community, a five-day faculty development programme (FDP), organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Joseph University got underway on Thursday on the theme “Chokhmah.”
An update from the university stated that the bishop of Kohima and pro chancellor of the university, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, along with other dignitaries attended the inaugural programme.
In his inaugural address, Rev. Thoppil spoke on how the university thrives in promoting holistic, affordable, accessible, contextualised and need-based education to provide innovative and intuitive knowledge; to offer relevant employability; to instill moral and cultural values; to promote inclusivity, uniformity, diversity, sustainability, community engagement and social responsibility.
He also encouraged the teaching community to be committed for the cause of education by mentoring and accompanying the students to help them grow besides inculcating human and Christian values, which is the mission of the university.
He also administered the Episcopal blessing for the entire FDP.
The session was moderated by Dr. Kinitoli H Yeptho, dean of Social Science, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Imkongsenla Longchar, director of IQAC.
A total of 170 teaching faculty attended the session in the university auditorium.
