WOKHA — An under-construction garage at Tourist Lodge in Wokha Village was razed to the ground on Saturday afternoon. The fire is suspected to have been caught by an electrical short circuit.
At around 2 pm, the fire engulfed the garage and reduced it to ashes, destroying machinery, construction materials, and a brand new two-wheeler stored inside the workshop in the process.
Khochamo Tungoe, proprietor of the garage, informed that property worth INR 30 lakh (approx.) was destroyed in the incident. For the purpose of expansion and reconstruction, he had temporarily closed down the garage for almost a month.
Though the Department of Fire and Emergency Services was informed about the incident, they couldn’t save the garage from being reduced to ashes.
