Kohima, Jan. 9 (EMN): One shop was reported to have been razed to the ground in a devastating fire which broke out at Mission Compound in Phek town on Friday night.
An official from the Phek Fire Station informed Eastern Mirror that report about the fire incident was received at around 9:50 pm on Friday night following which it mobilised a quick response team and pressed into service to douse the fire.
It was suspected that some unidentified miscreants might have set the shop on fire. The authority concerned are investigating the cause of the fire till the filing of this report.
While properties worth INR 20 lakh could be retrieved, it was informed that properties worth an approximate INR 3 lakh was destroyed in the fire. Sources also informed that the timely intervention from the Fire and
Emergency Services prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses have lauded the efforts of the Fire personnel for their selfless service, which prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding areas.
