First foundation day of Longleng Old Age Home celebrated

The first foundation day of Longleng Old Age Home as an extension mission to the Longleng district to care for the destitute elderly under the aegis of the Good Samaritan Women Society (GSWS), Kohima, was celebrated on August 24

KOHIMA — The first foundation day of Longleng Old Age Home under the aegis of the Good Samaritan Women Society (GSWS), Kohima, was celebrated on August 24 at Industry Colony, Hamlikong village, Longleng district.

On August 24, 2022, GSWS opened the home as an extension mission to the Longleng district to care for the destitute elderly.

The programme was led by Neithonuo Liegise, chairperson of GSWS, who also highlighted the activities of GSWS.

Liegise said on the occasion that the GSWS opened the home to help the needy senior citizens of Longleng voluntarily without getting any grant in aid from neither the state nor the central government and added that once the project is well established and properly functioning, the society intends to hand it over to a dedicated and trustworthy NGO from Longleng district.

The general manager of DIC Longleng, the president of the Longleng Senior Citizens Association, and the chairman of the Hamlikong Village Council also spoke at the event.

Earlier, N Tialemba Phom, executive secretary of the PBCA, invoked God’s blessings, and Motsushumi Kikon, secretary of the GSWS, delivered the welcome address.

The programme featured GSWS honouring elderly residents and LTBC youths performing a song. Langau Phom, coordinator of the Longleng Old Age Home, proposed the vote of thanks.
