First UPVC factory opened in Nagaland’s Viswema
KOHIMA — In a first for Nagaland, a locally-run UPVC fabrication factory situated in Sweba, Nagaland’s Viswema was inaugurated on Wednesday.
Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, inaugurated the new project, emphasising the need for Naga social entrepreneurs. He urged the Naga youth to pursue entrepreneurship and businesses, stating that there would be challenges, but one must begin by trying.
The Nagas have to become more patient, steady and try working hard, he added.
Factory proprietor, Sedi Kechu, proudly announced the establishment of the ‘Urban Home Solution UPVC factory,’ which stands as Nagaland’s pioneering venture in this field.
UPVC, or Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride, serves as a sustainable alternative to wood and finds extensive application in daily household essentials such as windows and interiors because of its low maintenance nature.
Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Kropol Vitsu lauded the proprietor and said that his initiative is the ‘real meaning’ of entrepreneurship. He observed that most Nagas who attempt to start businesses fail because they expect double or triple returns.
Vitsu encouraged the youth to encourage one another in their entrepreneurial journeys.
Earlier, Saphrul Pucho, pastor Viswema Baptist Church pronounced the invocation while Thono Kechu, mother of the proprietor, delivered a note of gratitude while Rokoseno Zhasa chaired the programme. Director of Tourism Veyielo Duolo was also in attendance at the programme.
