Former journalist to contest KMC election
KOHIMA — Atou Liezietsu on Friday declared his candidature to contest in the upcoming Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) from Ward 9 Midland in Kohima.
In an interaction with a section of journalist in Kohima, Liezietsu iterated that he was born and raised from Midland and knew the problems and plight of the people.
He has vast experience as former president of Midland Youth Organisation (2007-2009), former president of Kohima Press Club (2006-07), former media officer to Chief Minister of Nagaland (2017), former journalist (2001-06), former press secretary of Naga People’s Front (2017-2024) and the incumbent finance secretary of Midland Panchayat.
“I’m contesting this forthcoming ULB election not for any self-interest or gain but wanted to serve the people so that together we can bring changes to the development of the Kohima city,” Liezietsu said.
Maintaining that he was a social worker throughout his life and dedicated his services for the welfare of the society, Liezietsu said he decided to take the challenge to serve his colony and the society. Given the chance, he assured to deliver the expectation of his ward and the residents of Kohima in general.
Liezietsu asserted that councilors of any ward are just servants of the community and their duty was to selflessly work for the development of the city and added that all elected members should collectively come under one mind and decision to make the city into a better place to live and not for selfish for any personal gain.
Liezietsu appealed to those who would be elected from all the 19 wards to join hands and give maximum development to the city and also create a peaceful atmosphere. He further urged electorates of Ward 9 Midland ward to vote for him and see the changes.
He is likely to contest the upcoming ULB election on Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) ticket.
