Governor, Supongmeren and others condole MC Konyak’s demise
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan, Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir and the Konyak Gazetted Officers’ Union (KGOU), among others, have condoled the demise of former minister MC Konyak, who passed away on June 16.
La. Ganesan: In a condolence message, the governor said late MC Konyak was a sincere, committed and gentle leader who worked hard for the welfare of society.
“His dedication, kindness and unwavering commitment to serving others have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith and service will continue to inspire us all,” Ganesan said.
S Supongmeren Jamir: Jamir, in his condolence message, said Konyak’s “passing will be an irreparable loss not just to his family and loved ones, but to the entire Eastern Naga community and the people of Nagaland in general.”
KGOU: The KGOU said that late Konyak would be fondly remembered and revered for his notable services in building and strengthening the Konyak communities, the Kohima Konyak community in particular.
“His death is not only an immense loss for the Konyak community but a huge loss for many fraternities across the state. He was ever willing and ready to share his wisdom and experiences when sought and consulted by any one of us who needed his piece of advice and encouragement,” it stated.
“We are indeed grieved to have lost a leader with vast, diverse experience who had provided leadership in different capacities,” the union added.
ENPUK: The office of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Union Kohima (ENPUK) expressed deep sorrow and shock at the passing of former minister and first president of the erstwhile Tuensang Mon Union Kohima (TMUK), M Chinge Konyak, at Eden Hospital in Dimapur on June 16.
In a condolence note, the union mentioned that he served as the first president of the TMUK from June 21, 2001, until his resignation from the position on October 19, 2002, to pursue his political aspirations.
Describing him as a leader dearly loved by people from all walks of life, the note stated that he will be remembered for his legacy of sincerity, dedication, hard work, honesty, frankness, and stability in leadership.
It was stated that in this time of grief, the ENPUK and citizens of eastern Nagaland in Kohima stand with the bereaved family and pray to the Almighty God to grant them solace and peace.
Ex-PAN: The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) expressed sadness over the demise of late Konyak in Dimapur, noting that he had been a member of Ex-PAN since 2013 and remained actively involved in the association’s activities.
It conveyed that his passing is not just a loss to the Konyak community but also to the Nagas at large. The association expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying that God grant them comfort and strength and that his soul rest in eternal peace.
Konyak Union Myanmar: The Konyak Union Myanmar expressed in their condolence message that the Eastern Konyak community felt a kinship with the former minister, viewing him as both a blood relative and a pillar of support, unaffected by imaginary borders.
It mentioned that his passing has left a void for the Konyak people and expressed regret that they were unable to attend the funeral service due to communication issues. The union offered prayers for the family and loved ones, seeking strength from the Almighty, and wished for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
