‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ celebrations held across Nagaland

DIMAPUR — The activities as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, in celebration of the 78th Independence Day of India, were carried out across the state.

Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), in collaboration with Nagaland Police, organised a Tiranga Path Yatra in Dimapur on Wednesday to celebrate the spirit of freedom and unity among the citizens of Dimapur, according to an update.

The event also aimed to spread awareness about the importance of the national flag, inspiring and encouraging citizens to hoist the tricolour to mark the 78th year of independence.

The rally was flagged off from police headquarters in Dimapur by the commissioner of police and the commandant of Assam Rifles, along with more than 30 officers of Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police.

The event saw the participation of about 1,800 people, including troops from Assam Rifles, Nagaland Police, NCC cadets, students from Dimapur Government College, Vidya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, No. 1 Air Squadron NCC, students of Dimapur Railway High School, and citizens of Dimapur.

Participants carried national flags throughout the route, which covered key locations such as Dimapur Railway Station, the Clock Tower area, Khermahal, Chakesang Colony, and Hongkong Market and featured a 150-metre-long national flag. The rally culminated at Super Market.

Meanwhile, a programme was held on Wednesday at the DC office complex in Kohima, where DC Kohima Kumar Ramnikant emphasised that holding the national flag is not merely symbolic but a reaffirmation of duty and patriotism towards the country.

According to a DIPR report, the event concluded with participants taking the Tiranga Pledge and engaging in a Tiranga Canvas activity, where they inscribed “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Jai Hind”.

Further, the BJP Wokha district, under the initiative of the BJYM Wokha unit, organised a bike rally in Wokha town on August 12, where Nzano P Kikon, Deputy Chairperson of Wokha Town Council, flagged off the rally from Longsa Gate. The rally concluded at the local ground in Wokha.

The unit also initiated a cleanliness drive in and around the town on Wednesday. The drive was participated in by all the district officials, the morchas, and the mandals in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) at Englan Range, Wokha. The activities included a cleanliness drive, speeches, and engagements with the local community, emphasising the importance of cleanliness and sanitation.
