Henry Cavill confirms return to DC as Superman in new Instagram post
British actor, Henry Cavill, on Monday announced his much-awaited return to the DC Extended Universe in a social media post. Cavill has played the famous role of Superman in DC’s live-action films since his cinematic debut in 2013’s Man of Steel.
The actor announced the news of his return through a video post on his official Instagram handle. The description for the post reads, “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded,” and shows Cavill dressed as Superman in a dark room with bright light illuminating the actor’s face and features.
Besides showing Cavill in full Superman attire, the video then transitions to Cavill in a white t-shirt delivering a message to his fans. “Hey everyone. I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this. Because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch ‘Black Adam’. But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman,” the 39-year-old actor said.
“There is a lot to be thankful for and I’ll get to that in time but I wanted to thank you guys most of all. Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded,” Cavill said.
Cavill’s statement comes soon after his unexpected cameo appearance as Superman in the weekend-released DCEU movie Black Adam. Needless to say, fans are excited about Cavill’s impending return with the post getting more than 1 million likes in just one hour. The post has garnered more than 2.8 million likes at the time of writing this article.
